About Joanne Matousek

Joanne Matousek, an experienced litigator based in Chicago, Illinois, concentrates her practice on insurance law. Presently a partner at Tressler, LLP, Ms. Matousek’s areas of focus include insurance litigation and consulting, directors and officers liability, specialty lines, claims processing, professional liability, reinsurance, and other areas surrounding the insurance field. Additional duties that she fulfills include negotiating settlements, directing junior associates’ work, and pursuing business growth opportunities for the firm. Ms. Matousek accepted her role with Tressler, LLP, in 2009, when the firm recruited her based on her expertise in management and business development.

Joanne Matousek entered the legal profession in 1987, joining Peterson and Ross as an Associate. Her early legal experience included practice in environmental law, commercial disputes, fidelity claims, and professional liability, along with insurance matters. She later attained partner status with the firm, narrowing her focus to insurance defense litigation. She additionally assisted Peterson and Ross with hiring and interviewing new staff.

In 1999, Joanne Matousek signed on as a partner with Duane Morris, where she provided legal representation and counsel for insurers. Ms. Matousek appeared in numerous district and circuit courts, settled claims, wrote insurance policies, and managed various tasks for associates. She also played a key role in expanding and developing the firm, and in providing unique experiential opportunities for its associates. She remained with Duane Morris for 10 years before transferring to Tressler, LLP.
